It’s about time to knit another dress. It’s been a while since my last one — dresses can be tricky. You really need to take into account the junk in the trunk. This guy is a little turtleneck number, Allegeny by Thea Coleman (Babycocktails). I’m using madelinetosh Vintage in color Bark. Love the madtosh yarns but I’m having second, third, and fourth thoughts about this. I think it’s the drape and thickness that are causing me angst — I really do try to avoid adding bulk below my waist.
So the dress is on the needles and I’m also working on my one-a-year sweater for John. And just like that, I have startitis (only two things on the needles, OH NO!) I’ve had this super-cute dress in my closet for about two years now. It’s was a bit short for my less-than-young self so I had it lengthened to the fullest extent it could be let out but alas, it’s still just a wee-tad too short to wear without tights. With tights, yes … but that means a sweater will be necessary because if it’s cold enough for tights than it’s cold enough for a sweater. I do not own a proper cardigan in a color that works but in the middle of the night this weekend, I sat up in bed (yes, this is when I have my most brilliant thoughts!) and realized that I have this Plucky yarn in color Princess Phone. And it’s PERFECT!!!
But I only have 5 skeins at 140 yards each which doesn’t give me a lot of yardage to work with. I was thinking maybe this cardi. I like this version because it uses DK weight which is what I have. I need to spend some time trying to work through the math to see if it’s doable though.
