We’re having our neighbors over for dinner tonight so I thought I’d whip up a quick dessert. This hazelnut cake is delicious … I’ve made it once before when my mom was visiting a few months back. We enjoyed it without a chocolate glaze, just with some powdered sugar sprinkled on top for our afternoon “Kaffee und Kuchen” sessions. But a little chocolate glaze and perhaps a little local vanilla ice cream on the side will be a nice treat for dessert! I have to say, this site is my favorite for interesting and doable desserts. I also really love that the recipes are seasonal.

Unfortunate cookies

….. some not so successful cookies. Just to clarify, 1/2 cup of butter DOES NOT equal 8 ounces.  We buy our butter in bulk so it’s always in pound units, which means I always measure it on the scale. And usually I have to convert. And usually I do it right. Perhaps I’ll bake some humble pie next.
